Telly the Turtle:  Telly is the main character in the comic strip.  He is a doctor but is currently paying off his myriad of student loans, so the thrill of being a highly paid doctor is something that he has yet to experience.  Telly suffers from wild mood swings from deep depression to manic euphoria.  He is perpetually trying to find something of worth in life.  He can be cranky, lazy and generally unwilling to make the best of any situation.  He enjoys the activities of most “wasted youth:” food, television, video games, comic books, and being relatively unproductive.

Dr. John “Gator-Aid” Gator: The alligator, John, is Telly’s best friend and often times, Telly’s voice of logic and reason.  John is typically the one that brings Telly back down to earth when Telly gets a wild hair.  Gator’s advice can be, however, a little biting and cruel, but it is generally sound.  He is quick to point out the error of Telly’s ways without passing judgment.  John is not without his own faults, and is quick to pull a clever or childish prank.  John and Telly can often be seen eating breakfast at the counter of Stink’s Café or battling throughout Telly’s doctor office in an ongoing game of “Produce-Shooter Wars.”

Teri “Pumpkin Butt” Frog:  Teri is Telly’s significant other.  They share a rather unhealthy relationship of arguing, enabling, bitterness, smootching on the couch and wide-ranging dissatisfaction.  Teri is a high school Drama teacher and, like most every schoolteacher, is frustrated with her work.  She is quiet and demure and enjoys intellectual pursuits.  This is lost on Telly, of course, who does not understand her need for a creative release.  He would merely see her as being a “nerdy girl.” She is, probably, a little too good for her boyfriend.

Rufus Lion:  Rufus is Telly’s close friend and his shrink.  Rufus is a psychiatrist.  Unfortunately for his patients, he is quite unpredictable.  Rufus is more random and scatter-brained than most of Telly’s friends but he is still accepted and well-liked.  Rufus is quick to join in Telly and John’s adventures of avoiding work.

Roundaroo Kangaroo: Roundaroo is an anesthesiologist at the hospital.   He is a wild, impulsive character with little control over when he says, thinks or does.  He is not mean, but his impetuous nature has a tendency to get him into trouble.   Roundaroo is one of Telly’s newer acquaintances and was added to his group of friends mainly to fill their Bowling Team.

Susie the Receptionist and her Sock Puppet: Susie, Telly’s receptionist, is the most insane person in Telly’s life.  Susie can be seen wearing a sock puppet at all times.  Though Susie is kind, her puppet is far from pleasant.  Telly is quite frightened of the sock puppet and finds himself talking and arguing with it rather than his receptionist.
